DESCRIPTION
This unusual coat is completely unlabelled, making it impossible to state its exact origin with certainty. However, by closely examining the garment, some conclusions can still be drawn. It is most likely of Swedish origin and appears to have been made sometime during the 1940s, or possibly in the first half of the 1950s. It is tailored from a heavy mid-brown wool cloth with a subtle twill structure. The coat features a substantial fur collar in a slightly lighter shade, most likely nutria, or possibly beaver.
The coat is double-breasted with three rows of buttons. It has slightly slanted front pockets and a half-belt at the back. The back is closed, with no vent. Inside, the body is lined with dark brown fur, which appears to be sheepswool.
The condition of this coat is outstanding, with nothing of note to remark upon. One small observation can be made regarding the fur collar: when lifting the collar and examining the reverse, it appears that the collar may have been added at a later stage. If so, this was most likely done early in the coat’s life rather than in more recent years. Please study the photographs and form your own view of the condition. This is a coat that will keep you warm even when cold winds are blowing.
SIZE
In terms of size, the coat corresponds to a modern EU 52 (UK/US 42). It should, however, be borne in mind that the fit is naturally very dependent on what is worn underneath. Our stated size assumes that a jacket is worn beneath the coat. Please scroll down for the exact measurements and seam allowances.
