This coat is of Swedish origin. It was made sometime during the 1930s by a firm called John Larsson in Nyköping, roughly 100 kilometres south of Stockholm. It is constructed from a typical, heavy black overcoat wool of the period and was most likely tailor-made. However, there are no labels with a name or date; the only label present is the maker’s label in the neck.
The coat is double-breasted with three rows of buttons, of which two are functional. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps, and each lapel features a buttonhole. The cuffs each have a single button. The back is straight with a vent. The interior is fully lined and features an inside pocket on each side.
As for the condition, the overall impression is good. Upon closer inspection, however, you can spot a few minor imperfections. The fabric is slightly pilled in a few areas, and there are some discreet repairs around the buttonholes. There is also a small hole in the fabric at the bottom where the vent ends. None of these issues affect the overall appearance. Please study the photos and form your own judgement regarding the condition.
SIZE
In terms of size, it corresponds to a modern EU 46 LONG (US/UK 36 LONG). The size strongly suggests that it was tailor-made for a specific individual. We believe you should be at least 180 cm tall (6 ft) for this coat to fit properly. Please scroll down to see all measurements.
