DESCRIPTION
This coat has no label, but it was most likely made in Sweden sometime in the 1940s. The fabric is a heavy dark grey herringbone wool. The coat features a Persian fur collar and is lined in the body with the same type of black fur. It is double-breasted with three rows of buttons, all of which are used. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps. Additionally, it has the characteristic vertical pockets at chest height that are typical of car coats – these allowed chauffeurs to easily warm their hands when the vehicle was stationary. The back is straight and features a vent. The coat is heavy, and there is a chain in the neck area for hanging, designed to support the weight.
The condition is excellent, and even the fur (which is often damaged on similar coats) is in good condition. Please take a look at the pictures and form your own opinion regarding its condition.
SIZE
The size corresponds to a modern EU 50 (US/UK 40). If worn without a jacket underneath, a person who usually wears EU 52 (US/UK 42) should be able to wear the coat comfortably. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
