SWEDISH 1910S/1920S BLACK SINGLE JACKET. SIZE CA EU 48-50 LONG (US/UK38-40L)

DESCRIPTION

This jacket bears no labels; however, we can state with confidence that it is of Swedish origin. It was most likely tailored during the second half of the 1910s, or possibly in the early 1920s. It is made from a period-typical black wool fabric.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps, as well as a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. The cuffs are finished with three buttons. Internally, it is fully lined and has one inside pocket on the right-hand side.

This jacket displays several very distinct period markers. Note, for instance, the sharply inward-slanting breast pocket and the closely spaced button stance. These are details strongly associated with the era and which have never truly returned to mainstream classic menswear.

When assessing the condition, one must bear its age in mind – it has surpassed 100 years. With that in consideration, the overall condition is good, though by no means perfect. There are a few minor flaws: the lining is slightly discoloured at the cuffs, there is a small tear, and there is also minor damage to the cloth at the collar. None of these issues, however, detract from the overall impression when the jacket is worn. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion regarding the condition.
