DESCRIPTION
This smoking jacket is of Swedish origin and was likely made sometime in the early 1950s, or possibly a little earlier. It was sold at Carl Axel in Stockholm, a firm that had several large stores in the city during this time. The jacket is made from a light heathered wool fabric, with details like the collar and cuffs sewn from the same fabric as the lining, a checkered wool material. The smoking jacket is double-breasted with two rows of buttons, has covered buttons, and a shawl collar. It features patch pockets on the front, as well as a patch breast pocket. The back is straight and lacks a vent. Inside, it is fully lined. At the bottom of the lining, there is a label that reads "Ateljésydd BL Kunglig hovleverantör Stockholm." We are not familiar with this atelier, but it is clear that the smoking jacket was made there.
The condition is generally good, with the only issue being a slight discoloration right on the edge of the lapel’s piping. This is only visible upon closer inspection and does not affect the overall impression. Please look at the photos and form your own opinion about the jacket’s condition.
SIZE
There is a size label on the inside: "50." This corresponds very well to reality, as it fits a modern EU size 50 (US/UK 40). Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
