DESCRIPTION
These trousers are of Swedish origin, made bespoke in 1939 at Nordiska Kompaniet, a well known department store in Stockholm. They are intended to be worn with a morning jacket and waistcoat, and feature a traditional striped pattern. They are made from a heavy wool fabric. They are designed with a high waist, two front pleats, and the buttons for braces are placed on the outside of the waistband. They have vertical front pockets and a button fly. At the back, they have a fishtail and an adjustable buckle for waist size. There are also two back pockets with piping, one on each side. They lack cuffs. All of these details are typically seen in trousers from even earlier, before the 1920s. However, traditional formal trousers continued to be made in this style for a long time, despite changes in the "general" suit trouser fashion.
The condition is good, though not perfect. There is an area of damage to the fabric on the backside. Please study the photographs and form your own view as to the condition.
