DESCRIPTION
These trousers are of Swedish origin and were made by the tailoring house Lindahl & Niklasson in Stockholm. Unfortunately, there is no date on the label, but they were most likely crafted sometime during the 1910s. They are made from a heavy black wool fabric, very typical for the period. Stylistically, they are highly characteristic of the era.
They feature buttons for braces on the outside of the waistband and vertical side-seam pockets. The fly is buttoned, and at the back there is a pocket on each side. They have a so-called fishtail, meaning the back is split at the top near the waistband. Just below this is a strap for adjusting the waist size.
Condition: Overall, the impression is fairly good, but there are some defects that become apparent upon close inspection. The fabric is worn at the hems on both legs, which is not immediately visible when worn, but it does make pressing the trousers difficult to achieve a perfect finish. There is also a discreet repair on one leg, as well as a few small fabric damages in various spots. The lining shows some discoloration. Please study the photos carefully to form your own assessment of the condition.
SIZE
In modern terms, they correspond approximately to EU 52 (US/UK 42). There is plenty of fabric in the waist if expansion is needed. If fully let out, they could reach around EU 54–56 (US/UK 44–46) at the waist. As noted, the fabric is damaged at the hems, which will make it challenging to press the trousers neatly, though technically a few centimeters could be accommodated.
