DESCRIPTION
This lightweight coat is of Swedish origin and was most likely made sometime during the 1930s. It is by the brand Röda Pantern (The Red Panther). In Sweden during the 1930s, it was quite common for brands to draw inspiration from the animal kingdom when choosing names. Röda Pantern is one of the rarer examples – a label that is seldom encountered today, though easily recognisable by its distinctive triangular tag.
The coat is made from a twill-textured fabric in a brownish-grey shade – a classic colour for garments of this kind and era.
It is single-breasted with a concealed front fastening and features a total of five buttons – four down the front and one at the neck for full closure. The coat has large, slanted front pockets. The back is straight with a centre vent. Internally, it is fully lined and includes an inner pocket on the left side.
The condition is generally good, though not flawless. There are a few minor imperfections in the fabric – the most noticeable is located near the collar and is partially hidden by it. Please refer to the photos to assess the condition for yourself.
SIZE
Roughly equivalent to a modern EU 50 (UK/US 40). As with all coats of this style, the fit depends greatly on what is worn underneath. It may also suit someone who typically wears EU 52 (UK/US 42), provided they are not layering with heavier garments. Please scroll down for exact measurements.
