DESCRIPTION
This very period-typical suit is of Swedish origin. It was produced sometime during the 1960s by Magni, and was originally sold in a menswear shop in Härnösand, northern Sweden. It is made from a dark grey pinstripe fabric consisting of 100% wool – a noteworthy detail, as suits from this era were often made from wool blends.
The suit features many details characteristic of the time. The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with four fabric-covered buttons, creating a high-buttoned silhouette. It has horizontal front pockets with rounded flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The sleeve buttons are also covered in matching fabric. The back is straight with double vents. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and includes a total of four inside pockets – one large and one smaller on each side.
The trousers have a flat front and slanted front pockets, also typical for the period. They feature a zip fly and, on the back right-hand side, a small pocket suited for items like pens.
The overall condition of the suit is very good. The only issue worth noting is some discolouration in the pocket linings, though this does not affect the appearance when the suit is worn. Please refer to the photos to form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
The suit corresponds to a modern EU 48 (UK/US 38). There is fabric available to let out both the waist and the length of the trousers. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
