SWEDISH 1940S/1950S GREY PRINCE OF WALES CHECK TWO PIECE SUIT BY ÖRNKLÄDER. SIZE CA EU 50-52

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin, produced by Örnkläder sometime during the latter half of the 1940s or possibly the early 1950s. Örnkläder was a major ready-to-wear clothing manufacturer based in Karlstad, central Sweden. The suit is made from a medium-grey fabric with a discreet Prince of Wales check.

The jacket features a characteristically low double-breasted closure with two rows of buttons, typical of the era. It has horizontal front flap pockets and a breast pocket. A buttonhole is located on the left lapel. The back is straight and unvented. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and includes a total of four inner pockets – one large pocket on each side, plus two smaller pen pockets above the larger one on the left.

The trousers are high-waisted and feature double pleats. They have slightly angled front pockets and a zip fly. An unusual detail can be found inside the right front pocket – a small internal pocket within the larger one. The waistband has belt loops. At the back, there are two flap pockets with button closures.

Overall, the condition of the suit is good. However, a few points should be noted. One of the buttonholes shows some wear – mostly on the inside, so it's not visible when the suit is worn, though a small amount of wear is also visible from the outside. While it doesn't detract significantly from the overall impression, it’s worth mentioning. There is also some light discolouration in the lining around the armholes. SIZE

Converted to modern sizing, the jacket falls between an EU 50 (UK/US 40) and EU 52 (UK/US 42). The trousers, however, are currently slightly smaller, corresponding to a modern EU 48 (UK/US 38) waist. That said, there is enough seam allowance to let them out; if extended to the maximum, the trousers would also fit between EU 50 and EU 52 (UK/US 40–42).
