SWEDISH 1950S DARK GREY TWO PIECE SUIT BY PAUL U BERGSTRÖM. SIZE CA EU 44 LONG

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin and was likely tailored sometime in the second half of the 1950s. It was produced by PUB (Paul U. Bergström), one of the most iconic department stores in Stockholm at the time. It is made from a dark grey solid-coloured fabric, typical of the period.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It features horizontal welt front pockets and a chest pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is plain with double vents. The jacket is fully lined, with two interior pockets, one on each side.

The trousers feature a single pleat and slightly slanted front pockets. They have belt loops and a zip fly. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with buttoned flaps.

The condition is very good overall, with no noticeable signs of wear. However, one thing worth noting is that the jacket has been taken in at the lower back in a slightly unusual manner (please refer to the photo). This could, of course, be easily reversed if desired. Please study the images carefully to form your own opinion of the condition.

SIZE

Converted to modern sizing, this suit corresponds approximately to a EU 44 LONG (UK/US 34 LONG). It’s worth noting that the back alteration could be reversed fairly easily, and there are also 7 cm of extra fabric in the waistband of the trousers, allowing for a let-out. If both adjustments were made, the suit would fit more like a EU 46 (UK/US 36). Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
