This coat is of Swedish origin and was bespoke tailored in April 1926 by the tailoring house Aug. Andrén in Stockholm. This means it turns 100 years old this year. It is made from a relatively lightweight black wool fabric with a subtle twill structure.
The coat is single-breasted with a concealed fastening and closes with four buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with substantial flaps, as well as a breast pocket - an uncommon detail on Swedish coats, and when present, almost exclusively found on bespoke examples. There is also a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight with a single vent. Internally, the coat is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
In terms of condition, the overall impression is good. On closer inspection of the interior, however, some defects can be found, all of which are limited to the lining. These include a repair in the armhole area and some wear at the hem. The most noticeable issue is wear on the inside of one of the pocket flaps. All of these points relate solely to the lining and are not visible when the coat is worn. Externally, the coat is in strikingly good condition considering its age. Please review the images and form your own assessment of the condition.
SIZE
This coat corresponds to a modern EU 46 (UK/US 36). Please note that the stated size is calculated on the assumption that the coat is worn over a jacket.
