DESCRIPTION
This coat is of Swedish origin and was most likely produced sometime during the 1940s, or possibly in the early 1950s. It is by the brand Dress, a well-known name in men’s tailoring and ready-to-wear at the time. The coat was originally sold new by a menswear shop called Drabant in northern Sweden, specifically in Umeå. It is made from a herringbone fabric which appears uniform at first glance, but on closer inspection reveals subtle flecks of several different colours within the weave.
The coat is double-breasted with three rows of buttons. It features vertical front pockets and a buttonhole on each lapel. At the back, there is a belt at the waist and a vent at the hem. Internally, the coat is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
The overall impression is good, but closer inspection reveals some signs of wear. There is no direct damage to the outer fabric, though there are a few minor discolourations. The lining also shows some minor wear, the most noticeable being a discolouration at the front. Naturally, this is not noticeable when the coat is worn.
