DESCRIPTION
This coat is unlabelled, but it is still possible to draw a number of conclusions from studying it. It is over 100 years old and was made sometime between 1910 and 1925, although it is difficult to pinpoint the exact year more precisely. It was most likely bespoke made. The coat is tailored from a lightly grey mélange wool cloth.
The coat is single-breasted with a concealed button front and fastens with four buttons. The buttons are original and very much of their time. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and has a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and has a high vent.
Looking at the interior, the coat is fully lined and displays several period-typical details, including the metal chain at the back of the neck. The boldly striped sleeve lining is also very characteristic of coats from this era.
As for the condition, it is good considering the coat’s age. On closer inspection, however, a few minor flaws can be found. There are, for example, some small areas of damage to the cloth, as well as a few minor discolourations in the lining. All of this is entirely natural for a garment of this age. The cloth is also slightly faded in certain areas; this is not particularly pronounced, but it gives the fabric a subtle, shimmering quality in places. Overall, however, the impression is very good – a true rarity. Please study the photographs and form your own view of the condition.

This coat runs small in size. It falls between an EU 44 (UK/US 34) and an EU 46 (UK/US 36). It should, however, be borne in mind that the fit depends greatly on what is worn underneath. If worn over only a lighter garment, such as a jumper, it would likely suit someone who normally wears an EU 46 (UK/US 36). Please scroll down for the exact measurements and seam allowances.
