This coat is of British origin and was made sometime during the 1940s or 1950s. It is by the brand Trent and was originally sold at a shop called Chart & Lawrence in Horsham, southern England. It is crafted from a greenish-grey Harris Tweed fabric with subtle hints of brown and blue that become visible when viewed up close.
The coat is a raglan model, single-breasted with a concealed button fastening. It closes with three buttons, plus an additional button at the neck for fastening all the way up. It features slanted front pockets, and there is a buttonhole on the left lapel. At the cuffs, there are decorative buttoned tabs. The back is straight with a single vent. Inside, it is fully lined and has one pocket on the right side.
As for the condition, there are some points to note. There are a few damages to the fabric - including at the collar, at the lower front edge, and on the left sleeve. The lining shows some discolouration as well. Due to the coarse texture of the fabric, the flaws are somewhat less noticeable than they would be in a finer material. The coat is fully wearable in its current state, but the buyer should be aware of and consider these issues before purchase. Please study the photos carefully to form your own opinion of its condition.
SIZE
In modern sizing, it corresponds to an EU 46 (US/UK 36). As with all coats of this type, the fit depends largely on what is worn underneath - the stated size assumes it is worn over a suit jacket. Please scroll down for the exact measurements and seam allowances.
