DESCRIPTION
This coat was bespoke made in Hong Kong, most likely sometime during the 1950s or 1960s. Unfortunately, it is not marked with a date. Online research into the tailoring firm yields very little information. Inside, it is labelled “wool & vicuña”. Vicuña wool refers to the hair of the South American vicuña, a smaller relative of the better-known llama. This wool is considered the most exclusive in the world, with fibres that are the finest of any known animal – approximately twice as fine as cashmere. Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine the exact proportion of the two fibres used in this coat. The cloth is dark grey in colour and noticeably softer than typical overcoat cloth.
The coat is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps. The back is straight and features a vent. Inside, it is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
As for the condition, there is very little to remark upon. There are no obvious signs of wear or use, and the overall condition is therefore excellent. Please study the photographs and form your own view of the condition.
