SWEDISH 1940S/1950S MEDIUM GREY FELT HAT BY KARLSKRONA HATTFABRIK. SIZE EU 59,5

DESCRIPTION

This hat is of Swedish origin and was produced sometime during the 1940s or 1950s at the Karlskrona Hat Factory – Sweden’s most renowned hat manufacturer, located in the southern town of Karlskrona. It was originally sold at NK (Nordiska Kompaniet), one of Stockholm’s most iconic department stores.

The colour is a medium grey with a cool undertone, leaning slightly towards blue or violet. The hatband is a warmer shade of grey. The interior is lined with silk fabric and features a plastic protector to guard against hair products - a common feature in hats from this era. The inner sweatband is made of mid-brown leather. There are several stamps on the sweatband, including one indicating where the hat was originally sold.

The condition is excellent, with no signs of wear or damage. The almost perfect condition of the leather sweatband suggests that this hat has seen very little, if any, use. Please refer to the photos to form your own impression of its condition.

The hat is marked as size "60" inside, but the actual inner circumference measures 59.5 cm. It can be stretched by approximately half a size using a hat stretcher if desired. Please scroll down for additional measurements.
