DESCRIPTION
This hat is by the brand Gladstone. We are not familiar with this brand and are therefore unable to determine its country of origin with certainty, though one possibility is that it was produced in England sometime during the 1930s. It was imported into Sweden and sold new by Ivar Pettersson in Bollstabruk, a small town in central Sweden.
The hat is black in colour and features a matching black hatband and edge binding. The hatband is notably wide, which is characteristic of the period. Inside, it is lined with light-coloured silk bearing the “Gladstone” logo. It has a light-coloured leather sweatband which, in addition to the brand and the importer’s logo, also features a handwritten name that is somewhat difficult to decipher, most likely that of the original owner.
The condition is very good, virtually perfect, with no obvious signs of wear. Please study the photographs carefully to form your own impression of the condition.
SIZE
The inner circumference of the hat measures 57,5 centimeters. It can be stretched approximately half a size using a hat stretcher. Please scroll down for exact measurements.
