1930S/1940S DARK GREEN FELT HAT BY CLIPPER. SIZE EU 55,5

DESCRIPTION 

The country of origin of this hat is unknown. It is by the brand Clipper, which in all likelihood is not a factory but simply a trade name. Judging by the hat’s construction and design, it was probably produced in either Italy, Austria, or Czechoslovakia. It most likely dates from the 1930s or 1940s. The hat was imported into Sweden and sold new by Bröderna Olofsson in Hovmantorp, a small town in southern Sweden.

In colour, it is dark green and features a matching hatband and edge binding. The interior is lined with a light silk fabric. The lining bears the brand’s logo as well as the name of the importer. It has a light brown leather sweatband, which carries both the Clipper brand name and the importer’s name stamped in gold. There is also a marking stating “impregnerad”, meaning that the felt has been treated to resist rain and moisture.

The overall condition is good, though not entirely perfect. There is some discolouration to the lining, as well as a few small marks on the underside of the brim. However, due to their placement, these marks are not visible when the hat is worn and can only be noticed upon close inspection.
