ITALIAN 1930S/1940S LIGHT GREY HOMBURG FELT HAT BY BARBISIO. SIZE EU 55,5

DESCRIPTION 

This hat is of Italian origin and was manufactured by the legendary hatmaker Barbisio, most likely sometime during the 1930s or 1940s. It was imported into Sweden and sold new by Rytterqvists, a chain that at the time had several large stores in Stockholm.

In colour, it is light grey, with a black hatband and a grey edge binding that matches the felt. The interior is lined with a light silk fabric bearing both the manufacturer’s and the importer’s logos. The light brown leather sweatband also carries both logos.

Overall, the condition is very good, but there are a few points to note. There are a couple of faint discolorations on the felt—one on the brim and one on the crown.  These are not visible when the hat is worn, but can be noticed upon close inspection. There is also some wear to the edge binding. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
