AUSTRIAN 1930S/1940S BROWN SPORT FELT HAT BY HABIG. SIZE EU 54,5

DESCRIPTION 

This hat is of Austrian origin and was produced by the well-known hatmaker Habig sometime during the 1930s or 1940s. It was imported into Sweden and sold new by Carl Axel Pettersson, a men’s clothing store which at the time had several large stores in Stockholm. This type of hat was marketed as a “sport hat”.

In colour, it is light brown and features a matching finely braided hatband. The interior is unlined and bears the importer’s label. The sweatband is made of dark brown leather and carries the manufacturer’s logo. One notable feature of the sweatband is that it is perforated at the front. There are also small spacers that prevent the band from sitting directly against the felt, all designed to allow the hat to breathe when worn during physical activity.

As for condition, the overall impression is good, although there is some wear to the sweatband. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
