DESCRIPTION
In terms of origin, this is an unusual suit in our collection — it was originally sold at the shop Greenhand Leathercraft in the Maltese city of Mdina. It is tailored from a highly attractive, high-quality tweed fabric. The pattern is houndstooth in green, brown, and cream tones. However, from a short distance, it appears light brown overall. The fabric is Irish.
The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight with a single vent. The jacket is fully lined and has three inner pockets — one large on each side and a smaller one on the left.
The waistcoat is also single-breasted and fastens with six buttons. It has four front pockets: two at chest level and two lower ones. At the back, there is a buckle for adjusting the fit.
The trousers have double pleats, vertical front pockets, and a button fly. Inside the waistband, there are buttons for braces. The cuffs are turned up, and there is a single jetted pocket on the right side at the back.
The suit as a whole makes a very solid impression — it is a quality piece. Had we not seen the label, we would have assumed British origin. In hindsight, that’s not surprising, as the suit dates from the period when Malta was gaining independence from the UK. It’s quite possible that the suit was actually produced in the UK but sold in Malta.
The overall condition is excellent, with no flaws worth noting. Please study the photos and form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
This suit runs small. Based on the chest measurement of the jacket, it falls between a modern EU 42 (US/UK 32) and EU 44 (US/UK 34). However, the overall length is quite generous — it’s not unlikely that a slim EU 46 (US/UK 36) wearer could wear this suit comfortably. The trouser length supports this size. Please scroll down for full measurements and seam allowances. We recommend comparing the measurements with a suit from your own wardrobe to ensure a proper fit.
