SWEDISH 1930S/1940S DARK BLUE THREE PIECE SINGLE BREASTED SUIT BY KABOM. SIZE CA EU 50-52

DESCRIPTION

This classic three-piece suit is of Swedish origin. It was likely made sometime in the late 1930s or possibly the early 1940s by Kabom, and was originally sold in the store Hompes in the small town of Katrineholm in central Sweden. The suit is made from a dark blue wool fabric with a subtle stripe. The jacket is single-breasted with three buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back of the jacket is straight and lacks a vent. It is fully lined inside and has two inner pockets, one on each side.

The waistcoat is single-breasted and fastens with six buttons. It has four front pockets, two lower pockets and two at chest level. The back has an adjustable buckle to adjust the size.

The trousers are period-appropriate with a high waist, double pleats, and buttons for braces on the inside of the waistband. They feature a button fly and diagonal front pockets. The trousers have a "belt tunnel," which means that if you choose to wear a belt with them, it will be hidden in a channel along the waistband. At the back, there are two back pockets, one on each side, both with button closures.

Overall, the suit is in good condition with no visible damage or discoloration at first glance. Upon closer inspection, however, there are slight discolorations in the lining near the pockets. There is also a small fabric tear on the jacket, just below one of the pockets. This does not affect the overall appearance when the suit is worn. In terms of size, the three pieces differ slightly. The jacket corresponds to a modern EU 50 (US/UK40), the waistcoat corresponds to a modern EU 52 (US/UK42), and the trousers, when made, correspond to a modern EU 54 (US/UK54) in the waist. Likely, this suit would best fit someone who is an EU 50 (US/UK40), as both the waistcoat and trousers could easily be adjusted to match the jacket's size, if necessary.
