SWEDISH 1940S/1950S BLUE STRIPED DOUBLE BREASTED TWO PIECE SUIT BY STILI. SIZE CA EU 50-52

DESCRIPTION

This suit is from the late 1940s or possibly the early 1950s and was made by Stili, a manufacturer from the town of Borås in southern Sweden. Borås was one of Sweden’s most important cities in the 20th century when it came to the textile industry. The suit is crafted from a fabric that is very characteristic of the period—slightly bolder than what is typically seen in suits, but still sober and proper. The fabric features clear stripes that are visible even from a distance.

The jacket is double-breasted with two rows of buttons, with the lower row being used. It has a breast pocket, notched lapels, and horizontal front pockets with flaps. The back is straight, and there is no vent. The jacket is fully lined and has three inner pockets: two large ones on each side and a small one on the right side.

The trousers have a front crease and diagonal front pockets. They feature a zip fly and hook closure. There is a back pocket with a button closure. Buttons for braces  are attached to the inside of the waistband.

The suit is fully wearable, but there are a few issues that should be mentioned. There are some discolorations in the lining, particularly in the pockets and the crotch area of the trousers. There are also some small fabric damages in a few places, but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance. The crotch of the trousers has experienced wear, which has been professionally repaired using the same fabric as the suit. This repair is discreet and not noticeable when the suit is worn, but as a buyer, you should take note, as it does affect the price.
