Vintage spats

Vintage spats

An accessory close to our owner’s heart, the spats, have regrettably become very rare. As with several other items in classic men’s fashion, the spats stems from the military forces. At that time it filled a practical need, but over the years, it transformed to civilian life and evolved into more of a fashion statement. The spats could be found for purchase well into the 50s but is mainly associated with the first few decades of the 20th century.

A little guide to
HOW THE SPATS SHOULD FIT

The spats are attached around the shoe with a strap just in front of the heel. They should cover the lacing completely and go down slightly on the shoes vamp. The backside of the spats should cover a little more than half of the heel cap. Please note that the vintage spats we sell are made for wearing with slender shoes, if the shoes are too clumsy the straps will not reach around the shoes.
