Here are the latest updates regarding the A. Marchesan balmoral boot.

We know many of you have been eagerly wondering about the progress of our very first shoe model, the A. Marchesan Balmoral Boot. The development of this design has been a long journey, but we’re now approaching the exciting moment when we’ll be able to present the finished boot.

This boot draws inspiration from classic Swedish designs of the 1920s and 1930s, and with its creation, we aimed to achieve the following:

  • A clearly rounded heel that meets the heel in one uninterrupted line.
Most modern boots have lost this detail, largely due to the shafts being made too wide.

  • A narrow, relatively low shaft that doesn’t leave excessive space around the leg, but instead embraces it like a glove.
This point ties into the one above. Many contemporary boots feature overly wide shafts, resulting in a loose fit that moves when walking, creating a bulky and uncomfortable feeling.

  • A last that, despite being of standard width, creates a sleek and elegant overall impression.
Many vintage lasts are expertly designed to deceive the eye, a feature we see today almost exclusively in very high-end bespoke shoes.
