There is no label, however, so it is impossible to trace their exact origin. They were made sometime during the 1910s or possibly the 1920s. It is not their age alone that makes them so remarkable, but their age combined with the fantastic cloth. They are made from a very substantial rust-coloured tweed with a prominent overcheck in dark brown. This is the type of trouser cloth people have in mind when they picture the dandies of the period, and the sort of cloth we see in films. Yet how rarely do we encounter original examples in real life! They were most likely originally part of a full suit, but they also work very well as odd trousers.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThey have a single front pleat and vertical front pockets whose openings run along the side seams. They have a button fly, and there are buttons for braces on the outside of the waistband. At the back, they are high-waisted and have what is known as a fishtail back. There is a buttoned rear pocket on the right-hand side. They have no turn-ups, but instead feature a somewhat unusual seam at the hems. Internally, they have reinforcements at the knees.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe overall condition is very good considering the age of the trousers, which have certainly passed their 100th birthday. They are not perfect, however. There is some minor discolouration to the lining. Naturally, this is not visible when the trousers are worn, but it is worth mentioning. There is also a discreet repair at the front. The repair has been professionally carried out, and the character of the cloth makes it quite unobtrusive, so it has little impact on the overall appearance.
