DESCRIPTION
This rather unusual suit is of Swedish origin, most likely made during the latter half of the 1960s. The label is Strands, a Swedish ready-to-wear brand that was prominent at the time. Its design is somewhat unconventional – yet very much of its era – featuring a four-button jacket and dark blue velvet on the lapels. The buttons are covered in matching blue velvet. This suit is a great example of the bold direction menswear briefly took during that period. It is made from a lightly mottled blue fabric.
As mentioned, the jacket fastens with four buttons. It has horizontal front flap pockets and a breast pocket. There’s a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is constructed in an unusual way for a jacket, with a single vent and pleats on either side, along with buttons similar to those found on a frock coat for example. Inside, it is fully lined and features four inner pockets – one large on each side and two smaller ones on the left.
The trousers have a flat front and horizontal front pockets. They fasten with a zip fly and have a small back pocket on the left side.
The condition is excellent, with no signs of wear. There is a spare button still tucked inside one of the jacket pockets, which usually indicates the suit was worn very little – something also supported by its well-preserved state. Please refer to the photos to form your own impression of its condition.
